We answer the most common questions about dental implants

Dental implants have changed dentistry and the lives of millions of people around the world. However, deciding to get dental implants is not a small step, and it naturally comes with many questions.

At Implant Centre Martinko, we believe that an informed patient makes the best decision for their health. That is why we have prepared clear and honest answers to the questions we receive most often.

What are dental implants?

A dental implant is a titanium screw that is surgically placed into the jawbone and acts as a replacement for the root of a missing tooth.

An abutment is then placed on the implant, followed by a ceramic crown or bridge that looks and functions like a natural tooth.

Is dental implant placement painful?

The procedure itself is performed under local anaesthesia and is completely painless. Most patients are surprised by how simple and quick the process is.

After the procedure, some mild discomfort may occur, but pain is usually minimal and can be easily managed with painkillers.

How long does recovery take?

Recovery after dental implant placement varies from person to person, but it usually takes a few days.

The process in which the implant integrates with the bone, known as osseointegration, takes on average three to six months. Only after this process is complete can the final prosthetic restoration be made.

How long do dental implants last?

With proper oral hygiene and regular check-ups, dental implants can last a lifetime.

The materials we use at our centre, including high-quality implant systems such as Straumann and Bego, provide long-term stability and safety.

Can all patients get dental implants?

In most cases, yes. It is important to have enough bone and to be in good general health.

If the bone has receded, its volume can often be restored beforehand through a bone augmentation procedure.

At Implant Centre Martinko, every patient is approached individually, and each case is carefully analysed before treatment begins.

How much do dental implants cost?

The price of dental implants depends on the type of implant system, the number of implants and the type of prosthetic restoration.

We offer a free first examination and a treatment plan with no hidden costs. We also provide the option of payment in instalments, making high-quality treatment more accessible.

Is there an age limit for dental implants?

There is no strict upper age limit. What matters is that the patient is healthy and that jaw growth has been completed.

In our practice, we regularly and successfully place implants in patients over the age of 70, and for many of them, implants have significantly improved their quality of life.

What does the first visit to Implant Centre Martinko look like?
